About Programme

The mission of the Forestry Engineering Department is; "Forest Engineers" who can take an active role in the sustainable management, operation and protection of forest resources, who can produce solutions to regional, national and international professional problems with analytical thinking and innovative approaches, who know their profession closely and have the necessary theoretical and applied knowledge, are more preferred on the national scale. To train and implement an education system that provides engineering orientation to its students with a 7+1 education model, encourages individual and team work with a modern education-teaching approach, and enables student exchanges by developing partnerships with universities from home and abroad in line with these goals.

History
The Department of Forest Engineering was established in 2010. In 2016-2017 academic year of spring term, Forest Engineering PhD Program was established in the Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences. There are 12 academic staffs in the program. Research Areas in the Program are as below: Silviculture, Forest Management, Soil Science and Ecology, Forest Entomology and Protection, Wildlife, Forest Construction, Geodesy and Photogrammetry, Forest Economics, Watershed Management
Qualification Awarded
The PhD Degree in Forest Engineering Graduate Programme is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed the program.
Admission Requirements
1 - Bachelor's Degree in acceptable fields, 2 - Sufficient score (minimum 65) from the National Academic Staff & Graduate Education Exam (ALES), 3 - English proficiency (YDS: minimum 55 score), 4- Minimum 2.75 of graduating score in MSc. diploma and 2.0 in Bachelor's diploma, 5- Undergraduate students of Forest Engineering can apply to the program. Higher Grade Transition
After completing the course it is possible to apply related possitions in BTU or any other national-international university.
Graduation Requirements
The students who have successfully completed a minimum of 240 ECTS from all compulsory and elective courses of the program and successfully prepared and defended a thesis in related field are given PhD Degree in Forest Engineering.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
After completing the course it is possible to continue academic carrier in BTU or any other national/international university, or alternative job opportunities are available in related industries.
Assessment and Grading
Each course is assessed via a midterm exam (Project, seminar, quiz(s), homework(s), or a second mid-term exam), and a final end-of-term exam. The marking is made out of 100 score.
