About Programme

Bursa Technical University was founded in 2010 as Turkey's 5th Technical University. Our department is located in the Yıldırım Campus in Bursa City Center, and it started the education life by accepting 31 undergraduate students to the Bachelor Science program in the academic year 2014/2015, and is open to dynamic and continuous development.



 In our department, foreign languages ??are given importance and our students can have one year English preparatory education if they wish. During your student years in our department, we will try to give you the basic engineering and civil engineering knowledge required by the age as much as we can. You all deserve a good engineering education and we work to prepare you as future civil engineers. Our department will be a good starting point for you in this sense. We believe that you will help us in this process by working hard and improving yourself.



Civil Engineering is a rootstock engineering which is accepted as the basis of engineering all over the world. Bursa Technical University Civil Engineering Department is establishing the modern laboratory infrastructure in accordance with this solid and well-established past of our profession. It is in continuous development and growth in terms of academic staff and physical structure. We aim to graduate civil engineers who are hardworking and productive, able to work in a team, have professional ethics, are sensitive to the environment, have high communication skills and have a researcher direction, in line with the goals of our university, which was established with the mission of a research university.

History
The Department of Civil Engineering at Bursa Technical University was established in 2010, coincident with the establishment of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Architecture and Engineering. The education was started in 2014. The Building of Civil Engineering is located in Yıldırım Bayezid Campus on the east of Bursa.

Admission Requirements
Like any university in Turkey, student admissions to the undergraduate program in the Department of Civil Engineering at BTÜ, as regulated by guidelines set by Higher Education Council of Turkey (YOK), occur usually through a nation-wide university entrance exam (LYS), conducted by Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Following the submission of students’ academic program preferences, ÖSYM places the students to the program based on their LYS score. International students can be accepted to the program based on the exam conducted by our university. Exchange student admission is done according to the requirements determined by the bilateral agreements signed by BTÜ and the partner university (Erasmus and Farabi).
Higher Grade Transition
Students who have successfully completed their Bachelor’s Degree can study at postgraduate level (Master’s or Doctorate) on condition that they attain an acceptable score at ALES and have sufficient proficiency in foreign language.
Graduation Requirements
In order to be awarded with a Bachelor’s Degree, students are required to have completed all the compulsory and elective courses (equivalent of 240 ECTS) in the program and to have a Cumulative Grade Points Average (Cum.GPA) of not less than 2.00/4.00.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Civil Engineering is a field of occupation that educates experts with ability of working in the stages of project design manufacturing of all kinds of construction and supervision. Civil engineers can work in the public sector from municipal through to national governments, and in the private sector from individual homeowners through to international companies,
as well as in public institutions and universities.
