PROG. Director
Prof. Dr. Hakan GÜRKAN
History
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established within the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Architecture and Engineering in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547, amended by Law No. 2880, by the Executive Board of Higher Education dated 16.06. Our Electrical and Electronics Engineering department started its undergraduate and graduate education by admitting its first students in the 2015-2016 academic year. Our department accepts students for the doctorate program since the 2018-2019 academic year.
There are 2 professors, 3 associate professors, 8 assistant professors and 8 research assistants in our department, which is within the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences and provides undergraduate, graduate and doctoral education. Currently, the search for qualified scientists to expand its academic staff continues.
Qualification Awarded
This department is subject to first stage degree system with 240 ECTS credits in Electrical-Electronics engineering. Upon successful completion of program provided that program qualifications are met, an undergraduate degree in Electrical-Electronics Engineering area can be earned.
Admission Requirements
Electrical-Electronics Engineering Department admits the students with a central exam administered by the National Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). The number of students accepted to the program was 85 in the 2022-2023 academic year. Additionally, transfer students are admitted by a number approved by the Department Administrative Board and the Higher Education Council (YÖK).
Higher Grade Transition
Candidates with an undergraduate degree can be admitted to the graduate program if they get a valid score from Entrance Examination for Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education (ALES), and foreign languages exam (or equivalent exams such as Toefl and Ielts).
Graduation Requirements
To complete the program, students need to pass all of the courses in cirriculum of the program (with 240 ECTS credits) with GPA at least 2.00.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Nowadays importance of Electrical-Electronics Engineering has increased in any subject from medical to communication, computer technology to space research, electricity energy production, transmission and distribution. Electrical and Electronics Engineers could work in public institutions, university and research institution, R&D department of company, private sector, consultancy and contracting office.
