About Programme

The mission of the Forestry Engineering Department is; "Forest Engineers" who can take an active role in the sustainable management, operation and protection of forest resources, who can produce solutions to regional, national and international professional problems with analytical thinking and innovative approaches, who know their profession closely and have the necessary theoretical and applied knowledge, are more preferred on the national scale. To train and implement an education system that provides engineering orientation to its students with a 7+1 education model, encourages individual and team work with a modern education-teaching approach, and enables student exchanges by developing partnerships with universities from home and abroad in line with these goals.

History
The Department of Forest Engineering was established in 2010. Education of first undergraduate students has begun in 2015-2016 academic year of winter term. There are 12 academic staffs in the program. Research Areas in the Program are as below:Silviculture, Forest Management, Soil Science and Ecology, Forest Entomology and Protection, Wildlife, Forest Construction, Geodesy and Photogrammetry, Forest Economics, Watershed Management

Bachelor's degree in Forest Engineering.
Admission Requirements
Those who want to enroll in BTU undergraduate degree programs must get the sufficient score from the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM) and should not have an existing enrollment in another higher education program. Additionally, students are admitted with an undergraduate transfer in numbers approved by the Department Administrative Board and a vertical transfer in numbers approved by the Department Administrative Board and the Higher Education Council (YÖK). International students can be accepted to the program based on the exam conducted by our university. Exchange student admission is done according to the requirements determined by the bilateral agreements signed by BTU and the partner university (Erasmus and Farabi).
Higher Grade Transition
After completing the course it is possible to begin master/PhD program in BTU or any other national university provided sufficient scores in foreign language exam and ALES.
Graduation Requirements
The Bachelor's Degree is awarded to the students who have: successfully passed all courses (240 ECTS) in the curriculum, maintained a minimum C.P.G.A. of 2.00 / 4.00 (GIT grade:CC - ECTS grade:E) and no failing grades. Successfully completed compulsory placement period. Students must attend classes, practical and laboratory sessions, and examinations. Students' attendance is tracked by the instructor concerned. In order to be eligible to take final examinations, students must attend at least 70% of theoretical lectures and 80% of practical sessions. Insufficient attendance for any reason disqualifies students from taking the final examinations.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
The graduates of the Forest Engineering program have many opportunities of employment in state and private companies. Forest Engineers mostly work for General Directory of Forestry, General Directorate of Combating Desertification and Erosion, General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, General Directorate of Water Works. Besides, they work for General Directorate of Highways and for Municipalities. Moreover, they are able to work in private sector by establishing Private Office.
Assessment and Grading
In addition to midterm examinations and other assignments, students are required to take a final examination. The student is given a grade by the course instructor, based on the midterm examinations, final examinations, the semester‘ s work and attendance. Our students are subjected to the Bursa Technical University Measurement and Evaluation Instructions. The practical and / or laboratory components may be evaluated separately. In this case, the course and practical and / or laboratory sessions taken separately must fulfill the above regulations.
