About Programme
Students of the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Mechanical Engineering will be given basic engineering education in the first year, and then courses in ship construction, design, ship machinery shipyard management, etc. will be given.
Students who receive undergraduate education in the department will start their careers one step ahead by taking compulsory courses and elective courses of their choice, designed according to the maritime industry's priorities, to obtain the total graduation credits. In addition to this theoretical education, there is a compulsory summer internship and unlike other universities, there is a compulsory internship planning (IMEP) that our students must complete. During this one-semester internship planning, which is implemented in all faculties of Bursa Technical University in the 8th semester, students will work in industrial enterprises in the Bursa region or in shipyards, workshops, design offices, and R&D companies in the Istanbul-Yalova shipyard regions, and will take the first step towards their careers that await them a year later.
Another difference in our department is that it will blend the theoretical training students receive with the experience of our academics who come from the maritime industry and have worked in the shipbuilding industry for many years.
Students who complete the four-year Naval Architecture and Marine Mechanical Engineering education will be able to work in many fields such as they can work in shipyards, ship and yacht design offices, ship and yacht sub-industry organizations, ship operating (ship-owner) organizations, insurance organizations, classification (loyd, ship inspection, and certification) organizations, maritime-related public/private organizations and defense industry-related organizations, R&D departments, etc.
