About Programme

BTU Computer Engineering Department aims to provide theory, application and technical information on software development and digital transformation, human-machine interaction, artificial intelligence, computer aided systems analysis, design and development.


 


BTU Computer Engineering Department was established in 2015 and consists of 6 lecturers. Our staff is expanding every year with the participation of new faculty members. All of our faculty members are academicians who have been educated at the leading universities of our country and can keep up with the new technologies.


 


The mission of specializing in Intelligent Systems and Robots has been given by YÖK to our university for the transformation of the manufacturing industry, which is the largest part of the region's economy in Bursa, the 4th largest city of our country. Our students will be provided with the opportunity to work actively in both software and hardware field in the scientific projects conducted by our faculty members during their education.


 


We have cooperated with many software manufacturer companies in our department and our students can use the software of Red Hat Linux, Microsoft and Oracle for free during their education and benefit from the trainings of these companies.


 


Our department supports the principles of Open Source and Free software in order to reduce the dependency of our country on foreign software and to support the development of national software and attaches importance to the students' knowledge in these areas. In addition, students who are interested in networking and information security will also be supported by elective courses in this field.

History
The Department of Computer Engineering was established in 2016. Education of transferred undergraduate students has begun in 2016-2017 academic year of winter term.
Qualification Awarded
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering.
Admission Requirements
Those who want to enroll in BTU undergraduate degree programs must get the sufficient score from the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM) and should not have an existing enrollment in another higher education program. Additionally, students are admitted with an undergraduate transfer in numbers approved by the Department Administrative Board and a vertical transfer in numbers approved by the Department Administrative Board and the Higher Education Council (YÖK). International students can be accepted to the program based on the exam conducted by our university. Exchange student admission is done according to the requirements determined by the bilateral agreements signed by BTU and the partner university (Erasmus and Farabi).
Higher Grade Transition
After completing the course it is possible to begin master/PhD program in BTU or any other national university provided sufficient scores in foreign language exam and ALES.
Graduation Requirements
The Bachelor's Degree is awarded to the students who have: successfully passed all courses (240 ECTS) in the curriculum, maintained a minimum C.P.G.A. of 2.00 / 4.00 (GIT grade:CC - ECTS grade:E) and no failing grades. Successfully completed compulsory placement period. Students must attend classes, practical and laboratory sessions, and examinations. Students' attendance is tracked by the instructor concerned. In order to be eligible to take final examinations, students must attend at least 70% of theoretical lectures and 80% of practical sessions. Insufficient attendance for any reason disqualifies students from taking the final examinations.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of the programme can work at government or private companies in the field of information, communication, internet, electronics, education, service and commerce, in the positions of: Computer Engineer Software Engineer Research & Development Engineer Network Engineer / Director Database System Director IT Director Internet Programmer System Analyst System Programmer End-User Support Expert Application Developer Database Programmer Web Designer / Programmer Web Expert.
Assessment and Grading
In addition to midterm examinations and other assignments, students are required to take a final examination. The student is given a grade by the course instructor, based on the midterm examinations, final examinations, the semester‘ s work and attendance. Our students are subjected to the Bursa Technical University Measurement and Evaluation Instructions. The practical and / or laboratory components may be evaluated separately. In this case, the course and practical and / or laboratory sessions taken separately must fulfill the above regulations.
